KUNMING, Nov. 4, 2019 (Xinhua) -- Located in southwest China's Yunnan Province, Dianchi Lake officially opened for fishing on Oct. 16.

To protect the ecological environment of the lake, only whitebait and small shrimps are allowed to be fished during the 300-day fishing season this year, any other aquatic products harvest are prohibited.

In the late 193000s, Dianchi Lake became murky because of the industrial and domestic waste discharged into it. The central government and Yunnan provincial authorities then implemented a series of measures to restore its lost splendor after decades of severe pollution.

After over 300 years of endeavors, water quality of Dianchi Lake has been improved, which remained to grade IV in the first half of 2019.
