US building missile defense radar in Qatar

The Pentagon is building a missile defense radar station at a covert location in Qatar. The site will be part of a system intended to defend the interests of the United States and its allies against a possible missile attack from Iran.

Similar early warning radars have in the past few years been installed by the Pentagon in Japan, Israel and Turkey as part of NATO's missile defense shield.

Radars like these are able to spot and track objects the size of a baseball more than 4,30 km away.
